This paper explores the urban plans and projects of regeneration and revitalization of the Belgrade’s waterfronts, as well as selected students papers which could be the milestone forinitiating regeneration of the river banks and their contact zones, in order to create a new identity.Industrial Zone, which was the key element of the identity at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, can find new meaning in the modern city. On the other hand, Sava Amphitheatre which was the marshland a century ago is the most important and most valuableconstruction area in Belgrade. Both locations have been in the focus of the planners, architects and politicians during the past century. The results of that interest are seen in numerous urban plans, projects, several national and international competitions for specific locations and research studies with the aim of realizing the full potential of waterfront regeneration. Different examplesof regeneration are presented, their positive and negative implications on the city, as well aspossible implementation on the waterfront However, the regeneration and redevelopment of Danube and Sava riverfronts is one of the most popular topics in students’ papers, both in Bachelor and Master studies during the last decades. In this paper a few students papers are presented with a focus on transformation of waterfronts toward creative city.
