The course “Principles of Science in Natural Resources Management” introduces into science, theory and methods that are
typically used in natural resource management, like the field of forestry is. It provides an introduction into scientific work with a
specific focus on social sciences in natural resource management and policy. Starting with theory of science, the course
introduces concepts and approaches from the social sciences. The problem of the relation between social sciences and ecological
systems is discussed in particular.
The course gives the background to the course on “Quantitative and qualitative methods in social science and economics”.
